Planet Aid and COPP Working Together to make a difference!

Richard G. Tripp has worked out an agreement with the operations director of another 501(c)(3),   called Planet Aid INC. In the agreement Planet Aid will provide clothing and other materials to us from certain drop boxes that they provide around the Kansas City metro area, which will have a sticker stating that (Planet Aid INC)  Supports  the work Care Of Poor People does in our community with the poor and homeless.

Now for the help we need!  We need businesses, churches, grocery stores, auto parts stores, etc put let Planet Aid put a drop box in their parking lots to collect clothing and other materials for us. Along with supplying the drop boxes, Planet Aid will supply a phone number were you can call  when the box is full and they will come and pick up the materials to wear your parking lot is never messy.

During the first six weeks of having a new box put on your property, all of the donations collected go directly to Care Of Poor People.  After that time period,  a certain amount of pounds go to us.

This is just one of the ways we can help those hurting in our community survive.  Please e-mail if you have a space on your property to place a drop box  Richardgtripp@yahoo.com  or call at office 816-920-6119  or cell 816-918-9239.  REMEMBER: our next event is Spring Break For Kansas City’s Poor and Homeless on April 23,2011. Now would be an excellent time to put up a box so we have the materials we need for that event. Please help us spread the word about this opportunity.

Survival 11 Homecoming Event to help the Homeless

November 25th and 26th

8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Event Location:

Grand Avenue Methodist Temple

205 East 9th Street

Kansas City MO

Care of Poor People is going back to the location where it started 29 years ago for its Survival Home Coming 2011 Event. This event is being held at the Grand Avenue Methodist Temple.  The very first event was held in the basement at this spirit filled center, and now we are going back to celebrate how far we have come in helping the poor and homeless of Kansas City.   This year we are faced with many more that need help due to our economy so we need your help to make this happen.

To pull these events off we need volunteers to help sort through donations on Friday and Saturday ,  Hand out items on Saturday afternoon once we open the doors , and also to help with the big dinner that we provide.  Please help us to help them.  Please download the volunteer guidelines for more details on Volunteering or you can contact dawn@vertexfoam.com for specific questions.

Donations are also needed. We need Monetary donations to help pay for the setup, Blankets, Winter clothes and accessories, Hygiene Products, and  new toys for Children.

This event is often held indoors due to the cold weather this time of year.  However this year we will be having this event outdoors so please dress warmly.  The homeless have no choice about dealing with the cold weather and rarely have the necessary items to keep warm, so we feel that it is certainly okay that we too can be outdoors for a day.

We want to take another opportunity to thank Planet Aide for the support that they provided for our last event and the donations that they are gathering for us for this event. Planet Aide has been collecting coats for us for 6 months now and other donations that they take in from their bins around town during the time of our events.  Teaming up with Planet Aide to help provide warm clothing to those in need has been an answered prayer.  We can't thank them enough.

Please mark your calendars for this event and be a part of  this event for helping your community.

Over the past few months Richard has spent time with a local film maker, Brian Holscher, of " Dynamic Reflections", filming scenes for the upcoming documentary The Bridges of Hope  which will be released soon.  The documentary is going to give the homeless a true face and voice while showing how groups like COPP can help make a difference and save lives.  Want to help the film Maker ?
