Care of Poor People is going back to where it started 29 years ago for its Survival Home Coming 2011 Event. This event is being held at the Grand Avenue Methodist Temple. The very first event was held in the basement at this spirit filled center, and now we are going back to celebrate how far we have come in helping the poor and homeless of Kansas City. This year we are faced with many more that need help due to our economy so we need your help to make this happen.
We need volunteers on Friday and Saturday to prepare the donations area and the meal. Please email Richardgtripp@yahoo.com and ask to be added to the list and let us know which day(s) you are planning to be there. This year we will be having this event outdoors so please dress warmly. The homeless have no choice about dealing with the cold weather and rarely have the necessary items to keep warm, so we feel that it is certainly okay that we too can be outdoors for a day.
Additional Facts: Jackson County Sheriff Mike Sharp and his Deputies will be doing security for our event again. It is always a pleasure and an honor to serve along side them.
Donations Needed: blankets, winter clothes and accessories, hygiene products, new toys, Cooking utensils, and funds.
